Populations

Populations usually involve large numbers.

So if you are looking to teach children about large numbers, the populations of your nearest cities, towns or villages are a great source of real data.

You can do all sorts of things with them: order them, round them, add them, compare them (either by how many more, or how many times bigger), make graphs with them...

Lots to keep them busy here!

Ages 8-12    Printable materials (pdf) - 9 pages of teachers' notes and 10 pupil copymasters.
