Half and Quarter Hours

This investigation is paper-based, but also uses the online skill check and pattern builder.

You can use it to explore patterns building up in half hours and quarter hours to see how hours and minutes work.

half an hour = 30 minutes
a quarter of an hour = 15 minutes
three quarters of an hour = 45 minutes etc

Armed with this understanding, you can then challenge the children to investigate how many minutes there would be in three and a half hours. Or how many hours 225 minutes would be.
