Metre sticks are brilliant for Maths!

This activity gets children working in pairs to find different numbers between 0 and 100.

It works best if you have a metre stick that shows the 10s and the 5s as numbers, but only has marks for the in-between numbers, not the numbers themselves.

That way the children have to work out by counting where the other numbers are and get much more confident about the number sequence.

An essential foundation skill before learning to add tens to 2-digit numbers.
