Synopsis of Activities

(Three to begin with - more to follow if these prove popular!)

 

Make it fair

A game that can be played with a whole class or with a group of Primary 1-3 pupils as an early introduction to the concepts of multiplication and division.  You will need four large hoops and 20 bean bags.

How many each and altogether?

A class activity, leading to pair work, for Primary 2, 3, and 4 pupils that tackles the old chestnut of dealing with multiplication and division problems with words in!  You will need four large hoops, 20 bean bags, and three laminated cards with the words: 'Each', 'Altogether', 'How Many'. (these can be printed along with the instructions - see below)

How Many Fingers?

A lively class activity for Primary 2, 3 or 4 pupils, developing strategies for counting in tens beyond 100 while exploring the number of fingers (and toes!) that there are among the whole class or group.  You will need class whiteboard and pens, individual pupil whiteboards and pens, pencils and paper.
